Medieval Irish and Welsh narratives, Roman-period inscriptions, local cult evidence, archaeology, place-name lore, and later folklore are not all the same kind of source. They can illuminate one another, but they cannot be folded into one neat system without losing important differences.
Popular lists of Celtic goddesses often combine Irish literary figures, Gaulish or Romano-British divine names, Welsh story figures, sovereignty figures, and modern symbolic readings. This page is a guide to that landscape, not a flattened catalogue.

Áine is an Irish goddess associated with Cnoc Áine, sovereignty, prosperity, summer, sexuality, seasonal celebration, and the land in Munster tradition.
Áine can be called an Irish goddess, but her traditions should not be flattened into a generic Celtic sun-goddess profile. Medieval narrative, place-lore, later folklore, and modern interpretation belong to different source layers.

Macha is not one simple biography but a name moving across Irish legendary tradition, where it is linked with sovereignty, Emain Macha, horses, war, motherhood, humiliation, and place-name lore.
The surviving material gives several Macha traditions that overlap in theme but should not automatically be treated as one identical individual or one fixed goddess profile.

Themes and symbols
These themes are not a correspondence table. Associations vary by figure, source, region, and period.
Some Irish materials connect female figures with rule, place, legitimacy, and the testing of power. The pattern is important, but it should be read through specific stories rather than applied to every goddess.
Place, naming, territory, and landscape can matter deeply in Celtic mythology. In some stories, boundaries or ordeals mark changing status, but not as a universal goddess formula.
Battle-associated figures appear in some traditions, but war, protection, sovereignty, and vengeance do not always mean the same thing in every text or region.
Motherhood, birth, descent, and continuity can be central in some stories. They should not be reduced to a generic fertility label when the narrative is more complex.
Inscriptional, local, literary, and folklore evidence can preserve different relationships with springs, rivers, animals, hills, named places, disguise, transformation, or crossing between states.
Category uncertainty
Modern readers often group together goddesses, queens, sovereignty figures, ancestral women, warrior women, supernatural women, and literary heroines. Those categories can overlap, but they are not always stable.
Scáthach is a useful boundary example: she is a legendary woman and warrior teacher associated with the Ulster Cycle, but Rose Arcane does not present her as a goddess. That distinction matters for source-aware reading.
Blodeuwedd is another category-boundary figure: a woman made from flowers in the Fourth Branch of the Mabinogi, often given later goddess interpretations, but first presented here through the surviving Welsh literary narrative.

Horses, rivers, birds, land, fire, moonlight, forests, wells, and sovereignty imagery may appear in modern Rose Arcane art and music. Where possible, those symbols are tied to specific figures, texts, places, or clearly labelled contemporary symbolic reading.
Rose Arcane may develop symbolic and musical interpretations, but it does not present fixed colours, crystals, zodiac signs, tarot cards, animals, or months as ancient Celtic doctrine.
